The Barn has been in business for over 20 years. If you are looking for something unique, the shop is known to have the finest collection of Christmas decorations around. Its Christmas list is extensive from wooden and porcelain, glass and crystal, Baby’s first to wedding, angels and pets, music, sports and occupational ornaments to choose from. You can browse Santas, Carolers, Nutcrackers and stockings. The Historical Christmas Barn was relocated last April 2012 to the historic Lambert House (oldest house in Wilton). History is what you will find in the ornaments like Inge-Glas® of Germany. It has been making Christmas ornaments since 1596. The shop carries Patricia Breen ornaments designed in limited numbers in the studio in Krakow, Poland. If pets are what you like, the shop sells the Joy to the World pet collections and many more unique ornaments.

The Historical Society is open December 11-12, 18-19 and Christmas Eve, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. only. It is staffed by 35 volunteers who choose unique gifts for the Christmas holidays. You will find many hand-painted ideas from the local area. Aside from ornaments, there will be books, DVDs, historical items, crafts, quilts, throws, hats, toys and the area’s best selection of holiday decor. It first opened in 1968 and is housed in the old town hall building. The revenue from the museum shop helps to restore and repair the historical buildings in Thompson.

This shop has several dealers all selling unique items. You will find Royal Doulton, Goebel and Beatrix Potter porcelin figurines.
